Creative Career Level Up

Something feels off. But you can’t quite put your finger on it.

Jul 11, 2025

You used to care.
You used to try.
But lately? You’re coasting. Or worse - you’re clock-watching.

You tell yourself it’s just a busy patch. Or the weather. Or “everyone feels this way, right?”
But deep down, you know this isn’t just a phase.

This is what it looks like when a job stops being right for you.

It doesn’t have to be toxic to be wrong.

Sometimes we wait for a dramatic reason to leave - a bad boss, a company-wide restructure, a redundancy.

But often, the signs are much quieter.

You stop speaking up in meetings.
You’re no longer proud of the work.
You avoid checking your payslip because you know it hasn’t changed.
You feel... stuck.

It creeps in slowly. And before you know it, months have passed. Even years.

Here’s the truth no one talks about:

You can outgrow a job that once felt perfect.

You might’ve loved it once.
You might’ve learned loads.
You might’ve had a manager who believed in you.

But your needs evolve. And so should your career.

If you’re still in the same place, doing the same thing, for the same salary -  and you’re no longer excited by any of it -  that’s a sign. A big one.

Not of failure. But of growth.

Being good at your job isn’t enough.

Let’s be honest: you’re probably still performing. You’re still meeting deadlines, still getting the job done.

But that’s not the same as thriving.

You deserve more than being the dependable one. The one who never asks for a pay rise. The one who just gets on with it.

You deserve recognition. Growth. Fair compensation. A voice at the table.

And if those things aren’t happening? You have a choice to make.

Don’t wait for a breakdown to make a breakthrough.

You don’t need to hit rock bottom to give yourself permission to want more.

More clarity.
More momentum.
More purpose in your 9-5.

I’ve worked with clients who’ve stayed in the wrong job for 2, 3, even 7 years - not because they were lazy or unmotivated, but because they didn’t know how to start again.

But the minute they paused, reflected, and actually looked at what they needed next, things shifted.

That clarity gave them the confidence to move forward.

So if your job feels “fine” but you’re reading this with a knot in your stomach… don’t ignore it.

You’re not imagining it.
You’re not ungrateful.
You’re not behind.

You’re just ready for more.

You’ve outgrown where you are. And it’s time to move.
