The one interview move no one’s doing (But everyone should be)

The start matters. But the end? That’s where the magic happens.

You’ve probably heard of the ‘elevator pitch’. Most people have one prepped for the start of an interview.

But very few have what I call an Outro Pitch — and it’s the single biggest change you can make to dramatically increase your chances of getting hired.

Most candidates leave their final impression to chance. But if you want to stand out? You need to close strong.

So, what is an Outro Pitch?

It’s a 90-second wrap-up at the end of your interview. A final, confident summary of how you’re going to add value in the role.

The hiring team might not remember every story or bullet point from your interview…But they will remember your Outro Pitch - if you do it right.

Why you need one

Because it’s not the hiring team’s job to figure out why you’re the right person for the role. That’s your job.

Your Outro Pitch connects the dots. It makes it easy for them to say:

 “Yes. This is our person.”

How to build a kick-ass Outro Pitch

✅ Start by identifying the big problems they’re trying to solve with this hire. Not sure what those are? Do your homework. Talk to people. Ask the recruiter. (Hint: they’ll usually tell you.)

✅ Pick three key pain points from the job -  and position yourself as the person who can solve them.

✅ Write a short, clear pitch around those three points. Practice it until it rolls off the tongue.

How to deliver it

At the end of the interview, wait until the closing remarks are done. Then say:

 “Thanks so much for your time today. I know we’ve covered a lot, so I just want to take 90 seconds to summarise how I believe I can add value in this role.”

Then go.

The Outro Pitch is the last thing they’ll hear… and the first thing they’ll remember when they sit down to decide who’s moving forward.
